Welcome back!
Dear Advent Community,
As I begin my second and final year as Interim Head of School, I want to extend a warm welcome back to each of you. From the first faculty meeting on August 31, there was a palpable energy and excitement for the coming year. As we all gathered for the first day of school yesterday – on the front steps at arrival, in the classrooms, and on the recess yard – it was wonderful to sense that same enthusiasm and excitement.
One of the great joys of stepping into this role is the opportunity to work with families to support your children’s learning and growth. Open communication and trust are the keys to productive partnerships between families and school: Your insights and your stories about your child’s and your experience help us live up to our vision of Advent as a school where every student can thrive.
I am especially looking forward to seeing you at the Head’s Fall Welcome on Thursday, September 24 and at the upcoming Lower School and Upper School Education Nights on the evenings of September 29 and 30. These gatherings will provide time for us to connect, to share hopes for the year ahead, and to build the relationships that are at the heart of Advent’s Reggio-inspired approach.
As I told the new parents on Wednesday morning, know that my door is open. I welcome your questions, concerns, and thoughts as we move through the year. I encourage you to reach out to me anytime via email, or simply stop by my office at school – if I am not in a meeting, I welcome interruptions!
We remain grateful for the trust you have shown Advent, and we look forward to seeing you again very soon.
Warmly,
Bill Wharton
Interim Head of School
