Advent’s After School Enrichment Program is a unique opportunity for kid to explore their interests, dive into new topics, and make friends.

Advent’s After-School Program is much more than an extension of the school day—it’s a continuation of our commitment to curiosity, creativity, and joyful learning. Grounded in the Reggio Emilia philosophy, the Enrichment Program invites children to follow their interests, collaborate with peers, and engage in hands-on exploration that deepens their understanding of the world around them.

Each afternoon, students from every grade have the opportunity to enroll in a wide range of After-School courses—nearly 50 each week. These offerings are thoughtfully designed to balance academic rigor with play, creativity, and social connection. Children might build and program robots in a STEM lab, explore movement through sports or dance, experiment with materials in art and design studios, or learn a new instrument or language.

Every class includes time for focused learning, a healthy snack, outdoor recess, and a group activity that reinforces collaboration and community. Whether a child joins for one course or participates throughout the week, Advent’s Enrichment Program nurtures the same spirit of inquiry and reflection that defines our school day—helping students grow as thinkers, creators, and friends.

Just like during the school day, Advent’s Enrichment Team view Boston as an extension of the classroom. After School students visit Trivium Interactive, a women-owned multimedia design and production firm specializing in developing interactive and immersive media experiences for museums, visitor centers, zoos and aquariums.

Codebreakers: A Reggio-Inspired Investigation

In the recent Codebreakers ADVENTures class, our youngest students became detectives, using curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking to crack a case! Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, the class invited children in Pre-K through Second Grade to explore real-world problem solving through play and investigation.

The excitement began when two special guests—Detective John and Officer Jason from the Boston Police Department—visited The Advent School. They shared some of the real tools and strategies police officers use to gather evidence and solve mysteries. But soon, a mystery unfolded right in our own classroom: the Goldfish crackers and toy police cars that the officers brought had disappeared!

Watch as Advent students investigate the case.
