At Advent, we believe that learning to read and write should be both joyful and empowering. Literacy is woven throughout the school day as students engage in both thematically integrated, inquiry-based projects and receive dedicated instruction in phonics, grammar, and comprehension. In this way, Advent cultivates a love of language and builds each child’s own identity as a reader and a writer. 

At The Advent School, we empower students to step into leadership roles—and these Third Graders did just that!

As the season of gratitude arrives, we asked our students a simple question: What are you thankful for about The Advent School? Their answers were thoughtful, joyful, and uniquely Advent.

By integrating science, math, literacy, and creative problem-solving, this project allows first graders to investigate agriculture from multiple angles while building confidence as thinkers, makers, and collaborators. Their farms—and their learning—continue to grow!

Fifth and Sixth Graders have been busy exploring the science and social systems behind the food we eat—connecting biology, geography, and human stories. What better way to deepen their learning than with a stay at a real farm?
