A joyful start
The first day of school is always filled with energy, and this year was no exception. From ECC and Kindergarteners with oversized backpacks to confident sixth graders guiding younger classmates, the day was marked by smiles, excitement, big hugs for our mascot, Pride the Lion, and a shared sense of curiosity.
Classrooms buzzed with laughter and conversation as students reunited with friends and welcomed new ones. Teachers greeted kids and their families, creating warm, inviting spaces that set the stage for joyful learning. For many children, the day was filled with discovery—exploring colorful classrooms, unpacking fresh supplies, and diving into activities that sparked imaginations.
Kindergarten students enjoyed story time – reading Mariam’s Dream by Leila Boukarim. They then thought about their hopes and dreams for the school year, and got to work drawing them on paper. In Fourth Grade, students spent time answering "Would you rather...?" questions as a classroom community building activity. They explained the reasoning behind their choice, and discussed the similarities and differences among their peers. Across all grade levels, there was a palpable spirit of optimism for the year ahead.
The children are beginning the school year with enthusiasm and curiosity. Whether learning to read their first book, experimenting with science projects, or tackling more advanced math, each student is stepping into opportunities for growth.
The first day is just the beginning. With caring and supportive teachers, engaged families, and eager learners, the journey ahead promises to be one of joy, resilience, and endless possibilities.
