We are here to support you every step of the way!

Advent's comprehensive Next Schools process is highly individualized and student-centered.

The Next Schools team is dedicated to finding the right middle school for Advent's graduates to support their continued academic, social, and emotional growth. The Next Schools team is:

  • Nicole A. DuFauchard P'20, Head of School

  • Dr. Le'Aqua Pruitt, Assistant Head of School

  • Erik Wormwood, Upper School Division Head

  • Doug Surgenor, Associate Director of Enrollment Management & Next Schools Coordinator

This process begins from day one at Advent as teachers, administrators, and families work together to build a comprehensive understanding of every student. The team supports both Sixth Graders and their families throughout the entire middle school application process.

ISEE Test Preparation

Preparation to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) begins in the Fifth Grade year. Students take a diagnostic test to identify areas of strength and growth to inform work supportive of taking the ISEE in the Sixth Grade year. Most independent schools require the ISEE as part of the admission application.

Then, in Sixth Grade, students can sign up for an ISEE Test preparation class run by Test Innovators. This eight-week course supports students in test-taking strategies and more. The best part? A pizza lunch is provided by parents/caregivers!

Family Meetings

Beginning in the winter/spring of Fifth Grade, the Next Schools team sits with each family - parents/caregivers and students - to learn about their goals for middle school. The team and the family co-construct a roadmap for the student's Sixth Grade year, including developing a list of next school options.

Application Support

Sixth Graders are supported every step of the way! The Next Schools team olds practice interviews, helps families navigate the Boston Exam Schools application process, uploads supporting documents into Ravenna, coordinates teacher recommendation submissions, and transfers records to public schools.

Advent students have been accepted to over 40 different schools over the past seven years. This number represents a mix of independent and public schools, including the Boston Exam Schools. Explore the list of schools Advent graduates attend below.
