From the Search Committee Chair

December 11, 2025

Dear Advent Faculty, Staff, and Parents,

As Bill Wharton continues his leadership of The Advent School, the Search Committee is moving forward in the process of finding a new permanent Head of School.

Our search consultant from RG175, Jerry Katz, will be visiting Advent on January 12 and 13. During this time, he will tour both buildings, interview members of the school’s leadership team, and hold open forums with faculty, staff, and parents.

Jerry’s objective during his visit will be to get to know Advent well, in order to best represent it in a position statement that will be used to recruit prospective candidates. All community members will be encouraged to participate in an online survey to share their perspectives about the uniqueness of our school, opportunities and challenges for its future, and attributes our next Head should possess. Advent families will receive a link for accessing the survey shortly after school resumes in January.

Following are the dates/times of faculty, staff, and parent opportunities to meet with Jerry and to learn more about the search process:

  • Monday, January 12 at 3:30 p.m. (99 West Cedar St. Movement Room) – Conversation with faculty and staff

  • Monday, January 12 at 5:00 p.m. (99 West Cedar St. Movement Room) – Conversation with parents/caregivers*

  • Tuesday, January 13 at 8:30 a.m. (99 West Cedar St. Movement Room) – Conversation with parents/caregivers

*Childcare is available at no cost for families that would like to attend the evening session on Monday, January 12 from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Please submit this form if your child will join childcare.

While the final responsibility for appointing Advent’s next Head of School rests solely with the Board of Trustees, your input will be extremely important in helping the Search Committee to define criteria for the search and in providing feedback about finalist candidates. We will continue to update the community regularly as we move forward, and we invite your feedback and questions throughout the search.

We are grateful that Advent is in a position of strength, and we look to the future with great confidence.

Sincerely,

Lauren Goff, Search Committee Chair
