Professional Development

The Advent School has a state-of-the-art Professional Development Model, now in its sixth year of implementation. It is based upon a four-step plan that clearly articulates criteria for teaching at each level. Teachers are expected to take responsibility for moving up within the model, proposing a specific plan to get there, and working with the Head of School on the process.

Both the Head of School and the Director of Education guide teachers on their professional goals, conduct observations, and provide opportunities to attend and offer workshops. The Education Assistant posts teacher workshops biweekly, and maintains a collection of professional articles to support the teaching and learning process.

“This is a very special place to work. The level of teaching and the opportunities to grow as a teacher are extraordinary.”
