Spring Benefit 2010

An Evening on the Piazza!

On Saturday, March 27, 2010, the Advent community gathered at the Benjamin Franklin Institute in the South End for An Evening on the Piazza, our annual Spring Benefit.

The evening opened with a reception at Venice’s famed Harry’s Bar, where guests enjoyed sumptuous hors d’oeuvres and wine, while bidding on a wide array of donated goods and services in the Silent Auction. At the conclusion of the Silent Auction, guests moved to the Institute’s auditorium, which Lucie Beauchemin had transformed into a version of the Piazza San Marco, complete with gondolas and pigeons.

After a delicious three-course Italian feast on the Piazza, Advent’s own comedian and M.C., Tony V coaxed guests into lively bidding for the beautiful Class Art Projects, box seats at Fenway Park, vacation specials, and Paddle Raisers for Teacher Travel and Financial Aid.

We want to thank the many volunteers who worked throughout the year to make the evening a success, especially co-chairs Abby Johnson and Sue Klein, designer Lucie Beauchemin, Class Art Project coordinators Laura Tomasetti*and *Kristin Johnson, Class Basket coordinator Leslie Sullivan, and Graphic designer Laura Sigmund. Read the April Lion’s Roar for a complete list of volunteers.

“What is absolutely unique [about the Advent School] is the judgment, creativity, and developmental attention with which its rich multi-cultural program has been constructed. If any school will underscore and illuminate the opportunity and challenge with which multi-cultural education can be considered, this fine, small, humane scholarly little school can do it for us all.”
